So much hockey and the season is over!

Pens general manager, Ray Shero, has been a busy boy the past week!!! Trading, resigning, and acquiring players oh my!

So…who is gone? So far just TK. He’s heading off to the San Jose Sharks. The Penguins were able to get the no. 50 draft pick.

Tanger…oh Tanger. He wants the money. He’s kind of reminding me of Talbot. Rumor has it the Pens are offering him $58 million for 8 years. Nothing is set in stone  yet. He has one year remaining on his current contract valued at $3.5 million. The Norris Trophy nominee as best defenseman in the NHL will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the upcoming season, and the Penguins have made no secret of their desire to lock him up long-term.

There is still no word about Dupuis. The Pens obviously want to keep him, but can they? After extending Malkin for $76 million for 8 years they’re on a tighter budget now.

Craig Adams is in negotiations. From what I’ve read he wants to stay. Hopefully a deal can be reached and he’ll be a Pen for a lot longer.

And the last bit I’ve gotten so far is that they picked up goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.

There is still time for contracts to be signed, people to traded, and others to be acquired. It’s all wait and see now.

  1. I was hoping they would trade letang since he was pouting like a baby. I think its time to let some of these young defensemen we have been hoarding for years to start playing with the big club.

  2. i’m disappointed with the Pens off season as it currently stands. I love dupuis and he deserved a big payday. He has def earned it but it doesn’t make sense to pay him and kunitz that much till they are both 37-38. If either one or both of them slow down or get injured they are bad deals.
We are basically rolling out the same team, not getting any younger and sticking with the same regular season goalie who fails in the playoffs.

    • I honestly did not think Dupuis or Letang would resign. I thought that was that and they’d have to hope for someone else half-way decent to show up.
