I hate reading the news. I hate seeing the news on my Facebook news feed anymore. It’s never happy or good; it’s always sad and depressing.
I woke up this morning and was bombarded with stories. Horrible stories.
There was another mass shooting.
If you haven’t heard in Aurora, Colorado during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises a young man walked into a theater at about 12:30 with a gas mask on. He tossed some sort of tear gas into the crowd and made his way to the front where the screen was. The unsuspecting victims thought it was all part of the show. After all, it is Batman. You should expect crazy shit with Batman. Only when this man began shooting into the crowd did they realize that it was all very real.
One person said they saw people around them being shot and actually had bullet shells landing on her head.
Once police arrived they found the man responsible by a car armed with a knife, riffle and handgun. He was wearing a bullet proof vest and did not resist arrest.
12 people died…so far. You can read the story HERE.
Among those who were killed was an aspiring sportscaster who narrowly missed another shooting last month. For those of you who have seen or at least hear of Final Destination, makes you wonder if Death really does go looking for those who escape it huh? You can read that story HERE. Her last blog entry was about the shooting at Eaton Centre. She described having a bad feeling, decided to leave the building a mere minutes before the shooting started.
My heart breaks for these people and their families. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.
